(देश के किसान ही देश के भगवान् हैं )Why Problems Faced By Indian Farmers Continue To Remain Unnoticed

Image
देश के किसान ही देश के भगवान् हैं  अगर किसान नहीं तो देश नहीं  Indian agriculture is being plagued by various problems. These problems directly and indirectly affect the life of a farmer. Farming practices and other activities of agriculture consume time as well as the efforts of a farmer. We stock grains and use food throughout the year. However, we hardly give a thought to the hard-work and dedication of farmers involved in the production of the crops. These food crops are cultivated to contribute to the overall growth in the sector of agriculture. Nevertheless, the  problems faced by farmers  go unnoticed in the entire process of extracting food and harvesting crops. Why Are Indian Farmers Facing Problems? Since the 1960s, industrialised agriculture came into the picture. This has been successful but it is leading to a decrease in the variety of crops and livestock produced. Farmers have to face the issue of lesser rainfall due to improper irriga...

Why is India’s GDP growth falling?

Image
What happened? As per the estimates released by the Central Statistics Office on August 31, India’s economy, as measured by the gross domestic product (GDP), grew by 5.7% in the first quarter of 2017-18, compared with 7.9% in the same quarter a year ago. This is the slowest pace of GDP growth recorded since the NDA came to power in May 2014. India grew by a strong 9.1% in the quarter from January 2016 to March 2016. The growth recorded in the subsequent quarters was 7.9%, 7.5%, 7% and 6.1%. So this is the fifth quarter in a row that the growth has slipped, with the pace of decline picking up momentum in the last two quarters. The gross value-added (GVA) in the economy grew at 5.6% between April and June, the same pace as the previous quarter, but sharply lower than the 7.6% growth in the first quarter of the last year Is this surprising? Most economists didn’t expect a sharp uptick from the tepid 6.1% mark recorded in the January-March quarter this year, yet few a...

Chandrayaan-2: Modi proud despite Moon landing setback

Image
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi told his country's space scientists he was proud of a programme that had come so near to putting a probe on the Moon. Contact with Chandrayaan-2 was lost moments before its Vikram module was due to touch down at the lunar south pole. The fate of the craft is not yet known, but Mr Modi said there would be further opportunities. India would have been the fourth nation to make a soft landing on the Moon. "The best is yet to come in our space programme. India is with you," said Mr Modi. The Chandrayaan-2 approached the Moon as normal until an error occurred about 2.1km (1.3 miles) from the surface, officials said. India's Space Research Organization (Isro) said it lost contact seconds before the ship was expected to land. The country's  first Moon mission  - Chandrayaan-1, in 2008 - carried out the first and most detailed search for water on the lunar surface using radars. What happened? Chandrayaan-2 ...
